About EuropeanMartech
EuropeanMartech is the curated directory of European marketing tools. We manually verify each tool for GDPR compliance, EU data hosting, and independence from foreign jurisdiction.
Why this exists
The world has changed. Trade wars, shifting alliances, and unpredictable foreign policy decisions have made one thing clear: if your business depends on tools controlled by foreign governments, you're exposed to risks you can't control.
Non-European cloud services can be weaponized through sanctions, executive orders, or foreign surveillance laws. A political decision made thousands of kilometres away could cut off your access to tools you depend on, overnight.
EuropeanMartech exists because European businesses deserve a tech stack that works for them, not one that can be used against them. We help you find tools that are GDPR-compliant, yes, but also genuinely independent and sovereign.
What we look for
- European ownership and headquarters
- EU-only data hosting: your data stays under EU jurisdiction
- GDPR compliance and DPA availability
- No dependency on non-EU infrastructure or parent companies
- Schrems II risk assessment
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) status
Digital sovereignty matters
This is not about being anti-American or anti-anyone. It's about making a practical choice: when the political situation in the world is this volatile, you want to choose tools built by companies that share your legal framework, your values, and your interests.
Choosing European means choosing independence. It means your data, your workflows, and your business continuity don't depend on the outcome of foreign elections or trade negotiations.
Who's behind this
EuropeanMartech is written and maintained by Joonas Rotko, the Finnish marketing nerd and former digital marketing agency co-owner behind That Marketing Buddy, who got tired of seeing European businesses locked into non-European tools with no easy way to find local alternatives.
Also check out Chief Revenue Buddy, our independent review site for sales, prospecting, and GTM software, and FreeStack.tools, our curated directory of free tools and resources for startups and makers. All are built by RJ Digital, the product studio behind these projects, focused on building useful software at the intersection of AI, SEO, and marketing technology.
How we write
Every guide, comparison, and tool listing here starts with research done by a person. The judgements are ours: which tools make a list, how a vendor's compliance is classified, and what we recommend and why.
We use AI tools in the writing process, mostly to draft, tighten, and edit once the research and the conclusions are already in place. Joonas Rotko reviews everything before it publishes and is responsible for what it says.
Compliance details, ownership, headquarters, hosting location, and DPA availability, are checked against the vendor's own documentation. Where something cannot be verified, we label it as unverified rather than guessing. We would rather call a tool partially compliant than inflate it.
What this is not
Nothing here is legal advice. This site is written by a marketer, not a lawyer. It explains rules in general terms. Whether a given tool is lawful for you depends on your data, your sector, your jurisdiction, and facts we know nothing about. If you are making a decision that carries legal or financial risk, talk to a qualified lawyer or your data protection officer. Do not rely on a directory for that.
Some of it will be out of date. GDPR, Schrems II, and the AI Act all move through case law, regulator guidance, and amendment, and vendors change hosting regions, owners, and sub-processors without announcing it. Every article carries a publication date and every tool listing shows when its compliance details were last checked. Treat both as the date the page was true, not a promise it still is. We make no warranty that any of it is accurate, current, or complete.
Tell us when we are wrong. A site that criticises other directories for inflating compliance claims has to be the easiest one to correct. If something here is inaccurate or stale, email hello@europeanmartech.eu and we will fix it or say publicly why we disagree.
