Calenso goes beyond simple calendar booking. It handles resource management (rooms, equipment, staff), group bookings, and white-label scheduling experiences. The platform is built for organizations where appointment scheduling involves more than just picking a time slot.

Swiss financial services, healthcare providers, and government organizations use Calenso because it meets strict data residency requirements that consumer scheduling tools don't address. Data stays in Switzerland under some of the strongest privacy laws in the world.

Compared to Calendly

Calendly is simpler and cheaper for basic 1:1 scheduling. Calenso makes more sense when you need resource booking, intake forms, or operate in a regulated industry where data residency matters. Plans start at CHF 19/month.

The Original Scheduling Poll, Still Running

Doodle predates almost everything else in this category. It launched in 2007 as a simple way to poll a group for a meeting time, and that core "group poll" feature is still there, alongside the booking-page and 1:1 scheduling tools that came later to compete with Calendly.

What It Does

Scale and Customers

Doodle states 30M+ monthly users and lists Cisco, Google and HP among its clients, scale that very few scheduling tools in this directory can match. That scale is also why its documentation is unusually thorough for a scheduling tool: a published Data Processing Addendum (as Appendix 1 of the General Terms and Conditions), a separate General Data Processing Terms page, and a public sub-processor list.

Swiss, Not EU

Doodle AG is registered at Werdstrasse 21, 8004 Zürich, Switzerland. Its Terms of Service are governed by Swiss law with Zurich as the agreed venue, and its privacy policy states plainly that the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (FADP) is "the basic principle" applying to processing, with GDPR applying only "in certain circumstances", for example when a user accesses the service from an EU member state.

Switzerland is not an EU or EEA member. It does hold a European Commission adequacy decision, meaning the EU treats Swiss data protection law as equivalent for the purposes of moving data between the two, but a Swiss company is still outside the EU's own jurisdiction and enforcement structure. For a directory built around "does this tool actually behave like an EU-jurisdiction vendor", that distinction matters more than the adequacy decision papering over it: Doodle should be evaluated as a well-regarded, GDPR-aware Swiss company, not folded into "EU" by default.

Where the Data Actually Sits

Doodle's published sub-processor list names its infrastructure explicitly:

Both of Doodle's core infrastructure providers are hosted in Germany and Ireland, EU territory. But AWS itself is an American company, and the CLOUD Act reaches data a US company physically holds regardless of which region it sits in, so this listing carries US_CLOUD_ACT exposure even though the servers are in the EU and the operating company is Swiss. The same sub-processor list also names several US-only vendors handling specific functions: Chargebee (payments), Google Analytics, Mailgun (email delivery) and Zapier.

Pricing

Doodle runs on a freemium model with paid Doodle Business plans layered on top; live per-seat pricing was not published on a page this review could locate, so check doodle.com directly before comparing tiers.

Where It Fits

A Small, EU-Funded Scheduling Tool

TuCalendi is a modest but genuinely European alternative to Calendly, built by Appload Solutions S.L., a company registered in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. The footer of its own site discloses that the project was co-funded (85%) by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) under the Canary Islands' 2014-2020 operational programme, which is unusual transparency for a small SaaS vendor and worth crediting.

Basic is free forever, for personal use with one Events Hub, one Google Calendar connection, and unlimited meeting types. Pro, aimed at freelancers and teams, is €8.00/month per seat billed annually (€96/year), or €288 for three years under a "pay 2 years, get 1 free" offer; it adds multiple Events Hubs, CNAME support, multiple calendar and payment integrations. Enterprise is custom-priced, for large organisations needing multibranding, multiple sub-domains and additional setup.

The Compliance Picture Is Thin

TuCalendi's marketing carries a "GDPR compliant" badge and the site markets itself, via a partner listing, as "a European online booking software" reinforcing "its GDPR approach". The actual privacy policy does not back that up. It:

• Cites the pre-GDPR Spanish data protection act, Ley Orgánica 15/1999, rather than the GDPR itself or the current Spanish implementing law (LOPDGDD 3/2018)
• Names no hosting provider or server region anywhere in the text
• Never mentions a DPA, sub-processors, or an international-transfer safeguard of any kind
• Is otherwise a short, generic template covering registration data, analytics, and a right-of-access clause

None of that makes TuCalendi non-compliant; a small company can be perfectly lawful without publishing a detailed policy. But the marketing claim of a considered "GDPR approach" is not evidenced by the document that is supposed to carry it, so this listing records gdprStatus as PARTIAL rather than COMPLIANT, and treats the hosting location and safeguards as unverified rather than assuming them from the marketing copy.

Where It Fits

Against Doodle, TuCalendi is far smaller and more affordable, with straightforward per-seat pricing at €8/month rather than an enterprise-scale platform.
